"Conformity is that jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth."  –John F. Kennedy

The fourth and final slogan of Saori weaving is "Learn from everyone in the group."

(The new book translates this to, "Inspire one another, and everyone in the group." In case you missed the other posts on the SAORI slogans, you can find them here, here, and here).

It takes courage to be different,

to weave without a pattern, and to follow your heart.

There is a wonderful thing that happens when we explore new ideas and techniques in a group:  a dynamic is formed. Like a penny dropped in one of those cylinder things, it goes round and round, speeding faster and faster.

And magic happens. New weaver learns from old. Old learns from new. In a safe, supportive environment, we challenge ourselves and each other to explore new techniques to find our own creative expression.

"How did you do that?"

"Oh, look what s/he's doing over here!"

Everyone has something to contribute.

"What each of us can do alone might be small, but if all of us, with our different personalities gather together as a group, we can do much more. How wonderful it is to hold hands with each other. In our group, everyone can make the best use of his or her true self. Let's extend our group to the ends of the world!" –Kenzo Jo

Karen
