Marking Time 10.15.13

"How nice it will be when you always have the enthusiasm not to miss out on every beautiful thing that you can find in your daily life." –Kenzo Jo

Continuing thoughts about the SAORI philosophy. (In case you missed it, you can read more here and here).

The third SAORI Slogan is:  Look out through eyes that shine.

In our everyday experience, we look at people, objects, and scenes as they pass before our eyes.

Most of the time, we don't even think about what we look at.

But to see "through eyes that shine,"

is to understand more deeply what we are looking at,

and to acknowledge the beauty that is all around us.

Just looking, life can be dull and boring.

Seeing takes time.

It requires us to slow down and to linger (activities our fast-paced society doesn't encourage).

When you look out through eyes that shine, everything you see will be inspiration for your creative work; it's an inner path, as well as an outer one.

“You can become blind by seeing each day as a similar one. Each day is a different one, each day brings a miracle of its own. It’s just a matter of paying attention to this miracle.” –Paulo Coelho
