You can learn SAORI weaving even if you have no weaving experience! We have classes for all ages and abilities. All our looms are user friendly. Start by choosing your favorite yarns and “treasures.” After a brief demonstration, you will begin weaving (really, it’s that simple)! By the end of your first class, you will have a completely unique-to-you piece of cloth to take home!
What is Saori?
SAORI is a contemporary hand weaving method. Like improvisation, SAORI is a totally intuitive process. With no rules or guidelines to follow, weavers are free to tap into their inner creativity and explore color, texture, and materials.
SAORI is accessible to everyone: new weavers will enjoy the ease of use; experienced weavers will appreciate the many ingenious features of the SAORI loom; those with physical challenges will find the SAORI loom easily adaptable with special attachments.
the four slogans of saori
Consider the differences between people and machines.
Be bold and adventurous
Look out through eyes that shine
Inspire one another, and everyone in the group
In SAORI, we try not to imitate machine-made products, and we always try to do what only human beings can do. No two weavings are alike, just as no two people are alike. SAORI celebrates these differences. The irregular and accidental add to the beauty of the cloth. We admire this irregularity as "the beauty with lack of intentions" created by our natural creativity.
