New and Returning Students…the School Project…And a Shop Update!

Some of my favorite supporters came to weave during vacation week. Kara felt adventurous to try weaving on the all-white cotton warp, available here and here. She was completely focused and finished two weavings. We were all amazed at the color interactions against the white warp, and everyone loved the results!

This may have been the first time Melissa came to the studio without a plan. Usually she is weaving gifts from the heart for her many friends, but on this day, it was just for her. So special!

And Carolyn came with a notebook of her niece's colors to create a lovely house-warming gift.

I'm so grateful to these ladies! I've lost track of the many times they have come to the Studio. Sometimes it's with more friends. Sometimes it's with the kids. But whenever, it's always an enjoyable day of Saori weaving. Thank you so much!

Not new weavers, but new to Saori, Jan came for a second visit, and she brought a friend for an Intro Class. Saori and friends just go together! Jan lived in Japan through high school, and I enjoy hearing her stories, her experiences with another culture, how to pronounce words, etc.

Mary's "treasures" look like rose buds!

When Jan got home, she sent a photo of her finished table runner--the perfect place for it, too!

Returning student, Carol is back from a trip. She wanted to practice threading a ready-made warp at the table using the Saori Threading Holder. No more hunching over the loom!

Just finishing up the third week of weaving at a local elementary school. I love seeing the kids' personalities expressed through color and texture.

The little girl in the last photo made my day. She said, "weaving is the most incredible thing I have ever done in my whole life!"

Well, going to school everyday and teaching SAORI weaving to one hundred fourth graders is one of the most incredible things that has ever happened to me!

And last but not least, the shop has been refreshed with some long-awaited updates. I hope you'll find some new warps and yarn sets. More single cones to be posted soon, so please stop back.

Fleece,

Karen
